Tweet to Buffalo sports anchor Tom Martin exposes crowdfunding scammer

Forget about the fact that the Bills had just a 7% chance of making the playoffs before heading into their game against the Redskins last week, it was still a chance. For a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in this long that 7% chance at least gave us some sort of hope, at least some reason to keep our eyebrow raised. When the Bills seemingly pissed that game away in an almost embarrassing fashion it should come to no surprise that the fans were not amused, honestly not many could blame the fans for venting their anger or frustration about it either.

I took to Twitter after that game just to scroll around and see what people were thinking, if I was lucky I would see a few of my more witty tweeters provide something that would make me laugh. Well I found just that in a tweet that summed things up pretty good and even got a nice little chuckle out of me, my time had been considered well spent when I seen this tweet by a local sports anchor Tom Martin…

When the #Bills were told they had to run the table to make the playoffs.

After seeing that I then did what I always do after finding something that amuses me, I expanded the tweet so I could see what people had to say about it. I’m always fascinated by peoples reactions to the things I find entertaining, I figured there might be some decent activity happening. What I found instead was a bit confusing to me. I found that nobody was talking about the actual tweet, in fact nobody had anything to say except for one person,  and this is what they had to say…

All I could think was how oddly placed this person’s tweet was, but figured that since I’m already here I might as well check it out to see whats going on first hand. I clicked on this woman’s gofundme link, read through it and all of its 5 updates and immediately called bullshit. I mean I literally called bullshit, immediately…

Now some of you are probably wondering how after reading the heartfelt pouring of emotion on display here I could be so heartless and accuse this poor struggling mother of lying to us. That is because I actually read everything on the gofundme page. First you have to read the introduction, this is (or at least should be) the meat and bones of what is happening and why this person needs your money. Lets take a look at that while remember that today’s date is Dec. 29 2015…

Ok so the first thing you need to know is that this gofundme was created 5 months ago on July 22 2015. Right off the bat she talks about being homeless over the course of the summer, but technically the summer is only a month in at this date. Ok whatever, they’re in Baton Rouge, maybe they have a different idea of when the summer is, lets move on. Almost immediately though we get “my husband was diagnosed with epilepsy from seizures” which doesn’t make any god damn sense because its epilepsy that causes seizures. Maybe she meant to word it differently, but anyone actually dealing with epilepsy I expect to be a little more informed on their own struggles. I don’t know, maybe I’m just being overly skeptical, lets keep reading.

This is where things get interesting for a few different reasons, first and foremost the fact that we somehow end up reading about helping their young children out for Christmas.  Lets keep in mind that this was created on July 22nd, these people are about to lose their home which would force their children to sleep on the street, and for some reason they are thinking about Christmas which is over 5 months away?!  Not only that, but you are at risk of losing your home and you are more concerned about getting them gifts instead of keeping the roof over your head? Not only that, but your lights are out too?!?! What about getting that shit turned back on before buying presents with other peoples money? I can only assume that this gofundme has been edited for the holiday season, unless of course these people celebrate that “Christmas in July” I used to hear so much about.

So right off the bat after reading about this campaign I’m intrigued as to whats going on here, so next logical step is to read all of the updates…

Now this gets almost sad and comical at the same time, if we all remember this campaign is to to save the Robertson’s home. Remembering that and reading update #2 that say’s “We have a temporary place with a fireplace and blankets to keep us warm.” implying that they are indeed homeless now with temporary residency, that was 23 days ago, yet 8 days ago the update reads “Its almost Christmas, and we are about lose our home.

That combined with update #3 where she says “I can’t even get them anything to open on Christmas day. I know that’s what Christmas isn’t about. But to a five and six year old, they know they should open up gift. I’m just asking g to keep our home.” well that right there is both stupid and a contradiction in itself.  You plead your heart out asking for money to give your children gifts and then follow it up with “I’m just trying to keep our home“?!  Seriously? Is this real life?!

So now that I’ve read the campaign and all of its updates, it is clear that I should take a further look into who this person is. Once I did that I was almost immediately reassured that things are not on the up and up here. First things first, I look at their twitter timeline. I see a bunch of retweets and nothing of any real interest. Next step, look at what they tweet directly to others….. Bam! What is this?! Seems Mrs. Robertson is quite the busy person and has been randomly tweeting the link to her gofundme to well over 50 people a day for as long as I can scroll. Here is just a small sample of the tweets she sent out on Christmas day…

This is perhaps one of the most aggressive fundraisers I have ever seen in my life, my interest level is obviously at an all time high now. A contradicting story followed by an overly aggressive pursuit of their goal? Oh I need to learn more! I seen that the gofundme was set up by  a Facebook user named “DannyNToni Robertson” so within seconds I’m scrolling through their FB feed and any post they are mentioned in. Not so surprising  is the lack of mentions on all the struggles this family is facing. And this is very important, because if this family with 3 young children is at risk of losing their home, or even homeless for that matter you better believe they would be concentrating on matters besides shit like this…

Forget about that though, maybe this is how some people deal with crisis. Maybe they just need to drown out their feverish Twitter campaign with a bit of indulgent Facebook release, right? Or maybe they are instead spreading around different stories as to the true motive of their crowd funding attempt on random Facebook pages…

That last screen shot is extremely important because it clearly states that they are supposedly getting evicted at the end of December, yet if you look at this screen shot they already went homeless well before then…

Discovering all of this led me to dig in even deeper and what I found was that Danny and Toni Robertson have set up numerous crowdfunding campaigns between the two of them over the last few years. Using a few key words that seemed to be favorable to these individuals I discovered that Danny Robertson’s twitter account is @wwefamily225 and boy is that account busy sharing viral links…

Honestly, when you take in all the time and effort that is being put into posting on both twitter accounts and then how much bullshit is being posted to their joint Facebook account… well its not so hard to imagine why you might have problems paying your rent. Lets face it though, that’s all complete bullshit. If by chance you have the time and patience to sift through Danny’s Twitter history you find that this whole “please save my home” routine is nothing new to him, he’s only been at it for a year now…

Hell, who knows? maybe 2 years…

Oh. and he is also spreading around via Twitter that him and his family are homeless even though it contradicts the campaign he is linking to…

Now there are numerous other things that I dug up in my research that really bothered me about what was going on here, I have a folder full of screen shots and links that I could talk about for days when it comes to these two people and them using their children in an attempt to exploit the kind hearts of others. There are 2 things I want to throw out there before I conclude this article. The first is this Linkedin account I found for Danny Robertson…

I’m not even going to comment on this one, at this point I don’t give a shit why you would have a linkedin account set up like that, I’m sure its very fitting to your religious beliefs though. My more pressing concern was this ‘give forward’ crowd funding account set up by Toni Robertson to move there children to “a safer place to live”…

Worst part about it is after you are on the page for a few seconds you are greeted with this popup implying that Danny Robertson is this poor child who needs to move away from the dangerous environment he is in…

Not only that but if you look at the web address it states “www. give forward// help a family keep its home” which is just absurd when you read the message being provided in this campaign. Believe me when I say it gets even worse than this when you start digging even further into what is going on here. Here we have a couple claiming to be so unfortunate and needing immediate assistance for their 3 young helpless children while they play on Twitter and Facebook all day and concoct various crowdfunding campaigns. Its sickening and shit like this needs to be put to an end with the quickness because there are actual hard working families out there struggling to make ends meet who really do need help.

The fact that this shit has been going on for this long and nobody has taken just a few moments to look into these people is just astonishing. Asking for money online is by all means absolutely ok, but when you lie to people as to why you need it then it becomes a crime. In this case we have a few different stories as to why they need our money, none of which I am amused with.

It’s funny to me because you can tweet out thousands of tweets with your scam for several years, but the moment it hits the Bills fan base that’s when you’re getting your shit picked apart into tiny little pieces. I’ll expose anyone that thinks it is a good idea to target my fellow fans, including my own. You either want to live an honest and good life, or you want me to dissect your every move. Keep your shit off my lawn.
