If you are anything like myself then you like your hockey players to be mean, gritty and strong like a grizzly bear on ice skates. I can of course excuse some of these qualities if you can average at least a point per game, I understand wanting to keep your nose clean if you’re racking up the points and leading us to victory. But honestly, even if you’re our best offensive player I want to see you stick up for not only yourself but your team as well.
The great Doug Marrone had been thought of by many as a visionary, an icon and a great new mind of football innovation. When this generation’s Vince Lombardi decided to opt-out of his contract with the Buffalo Bills, he quit on the millions of smiling faces around Bills-land. We here at Buffalo Bruises have done a little bit of research into Doug Marrone’s past, learning that this is (obviously) far from the first time he’s quit something to benefit himself.
Have you ever seen the big reveal of the NHL draft lottery results? If you have then you may have walked away with a slight feeling that things don’t really seem on the up and up. If you haven’t ever seen one, well then you are in for a treat my friend. Check out the video of last years lottery results to see what all the fuss is about…
I’m going to do my best to resist the urge to just start shouting obscenities in this article. It was recently brought to my attention that some terrible hockey blogger named Josh Cooper decided to write a whole article based on the fact that the Buffalo Sabres are in a position to draft either Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel and how he felt we didn’t deserve either of them. To make matters even worse, he for whatever reason couldn’t be nice about it and just had to call us and Edmonton “the two poster children for crappola franchises”.
The phrase “nothing is guaranteed” is often tossed around by Sabres fans who are against the team tanking this year. These same fans often times criticize those of us who #EmbraceTheTank as not being “True Fans.”
“Is this thing on? Because it’s getting ready to be on.”
If you haven’t heard yet, Buffalo Sabres lone All Star, Zemgus Girgensons, is now a rep sensation. Sweeping the nation (not this one, Latvia) with his chart topper, OLAS – ZEMGUS GIRGENSONS, now member of our Buffalo sports teams have another great rap song in addition to Aaron Maybin, Stevie Johnson and Sammy Watkins.
Funny thing about my obsession with hockey, it all started because I found out there were actual fights that regularly happened in the game. Back when I found this all out the Sabres had the likes of Rob Ray, Matthew Barnaby and the fearless boogeyman Bob Boughner, so needless to say there was no shortage of fights regardless of who the opponent was. I honestly had no interest in the actual game being played, but as I tuned in every other night to get a little taste of legal violence I started learning the rules of the game, the players that played it and the incredible amount of passion that lies into almost every aspect of the game.
